keybinds.

year: 2025

medium: Video, (06:33)

info: keybinds. is a piece that wishes to explore the human disconnect with nature directly due to technology. As we are pushed into a technologically driven age, it has become omnipresent everywhere, even beginning to seep into nature itself. Nature and technology are two very different sides of the same coin, and introducing the dark, ridgid, inhumane characteristics of technology contradicts the organic and soft forms of the flowers perfectly. While I am typing on this so-called flower-like keyboard, over time, the pressure of my fingers wears down the flowers into the grass. This directly plays into the decay of nature in favor of technology, and how we are distancing ourselves from the earth and letting nature get ruined and destroyed, to the point where it may eventually no longer serve any purpose to us. The concerns that keybinds. wishes to show are the contemporary issues that technology has brought and how through this digital pandemic, media is being sought out for a distraction, and we are losing touch with the nature that surrounds us and provides us a home.

This project was part of a collaboration with Louisiana State University with Experimental Music class students. Adam Bourque created separate audio for this video piece, which is available upon request.
