info: While my work primarily consists of human relationships with technology, a recent thought of mine has been with technological items that are either wearable or implanted into the body. These ideas started after being introduced to a game called Cyberpunk 2077, where technology called cyberware is introduced, a name for any cybernetic technology permanently installed into the body that directly impacts the central nervous system. Alongside this inspiration, Recently I was placed in the cardiac wing of the ER due to an illness, and was both awed and equally sickened by the amount of wires I had coming off of me due to IVS, blood tests, EKG tests, and heart monitors. The idea of being hooked up to machines really inspired me to focus on the relationship between something with flesh and something with wires and metal, and how the two can be integrated. This piece challenges that human/machine connection and shows the anticipation/fears for technological advancements in the future.
This project was part of a collaboration with Louisiana State University with Experimental Music class students. Matthew Posey created separate audio for this video piece, which is available upon request.
